DAY THREE – WashDC/Gettysburg/NewYork – Tour 107301566

Great News! Washington, D.C.: March 25, 2010: This School is part of history! May 24, 2010 Press Release, WASHINGTON — History was made Saturday in Honolulu with the election of Republican Charles Djou to Congress.  Djou won the special election to fill the seat left vacant by Neil Abercrombie, who resigned the office to run for governor of Hawaii.  Djou is the first republican congressman from Hawaii in nearly 20 years. Today, Tuesday May 25th, Congressman’s Djou was sworn in to office on the floor of the House of Representatives and who do think was in the gallery to witness this historic event?  Oh yes, you guessed it … Our Redeemer Lutheran School!  And what was his first official act as congressman?  To meet with his constituency from Hawaii of course … praise the Lord!  🙂 Congressman Djou represents Our Redeemer Lutheran’s district.  It was electrifying to have him speak with the group on the steps of the House and take group pictures on his FIRST DAY IN OFFICE.   Our Redeemer had chosen to miss their capitol tour in order to witness the swearing in ceremony.  Another unexpected blessing was to have Congressman Dan Lundgren’s chief of staff Victor Arnold-Bik take Our Redeemer back inside the capitol building and himself conduct a private tour AFTER the rotunda was closed to the public.  Victor was also responsible for getting the group to the House Gallery.  Thank you Victor Arnold-Bik for all you have done to make this day an indelible and treasured memory!...
