Updated as of 9:38 PM (ET). ****************************** Please note: Due to a CBS programming decision, they will NOT be filming on the CBS Plaza, therefore our Itinerary is being adjusted (we will not be part of the Early Show.) Instead, we will be taking advantage of New York’s “Fleet Week”. More to come… Our first stop on Manhattan this morning was our tour of the USS Iwo Jima on display while docked at Pier 88 along the Hudson River. Our walk through Central Park brought us to the Bethesda Fountain. We found “Hans Christian” where “a bronze man still can tell stories his own way” (Saturday in the Park, by Chicago). Our Subway ride from Grand Central Terminal to Times Square was a highlight. Fun in Times Square (inside Toys R Us – the world’s largest toy store). Looks like an on-time departure. Wednesday, May 25, 2011 Following a short devotion from Mrs. Jordan we visited the Gettysburg Military Park Visitors Center with a movie & the famed Cyclorama (the largest painting in America). We were led on a tour of the Battlefield by our Licensed Battlefield Guide, Andie. l Overlooking the Battlefield from atop Little Round Top. A small group standing in front of the monument erected honoring the California Regiment at “The Angle” where Pickett’s Charge met the “High Watermark” on July 3, 1863. After a 3 1/2 hour drive, these young men & women surely cleaned up well… ready to “paint the town”! New York, Here we come! Tuesday, May 24, 2011 Over the last couple days we have focused on the commitment of those who have given their all so that our country might be free. Today our focus will be on the work that is being done to ensure our future freedoms, our tour of the Capitol will surely be a highlight. Breakfast at the Hard Rock Cafe! Ford’s Theatre (where President Lincoln was shot on Good Friday, April 14, 1865.) United States Capitol (with Congressman Dana Rohrabacher (R, California District 39). Our time in the Capitol was very unique. We had a change in our Itinerary due to circumstances that allowed us to witness a spur-of-the-moment vote in the House of Representatives. Within 10 minutes the “House” went from 7 Representatives doing a “Voice Vote” to the Speaker hammering the gavel, calling for a vote, and having the full Congress appear.
