Day 6: Tour 102361557 6-Day East Coast Tour

Our 6th, and final day of touring, began with breakfast in New Jersey, at the Brownstone Diner. This restaurant has been featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. Good pancakes. And now we’re off! You Never Know What You Might See!!! It’s the Bubble Man!!! Hey Can I Try That???!!! Mrs. Morner and her 8th graders at Bethesda Fountain in Central Park. No rain….a wonderful walk in the park! Bethesda Fountain Central Park – The bronze, eight-foot statue depicts a female winged angel touching down upon the top of the fountain, where water spouts and cascades into an upper basin and into the surrounding pool. It was the only statue in the park called for in the original design. Beneath her are four four-foot cherubs representing Temperance, Purity, Health, and Peace. Also called the Angel of the Waters, the statue refers to the Gospel of John, Chapter 5 where there is a description of an angel blessing the Pool of Bethesda, giving it healing powers. Day 5: Tour 102361557 6-Day East Coast Tour

Ellis Island receiving area. Our students are getting into the mood! In spite of the storm and lightning outside, we made it to Ellis Island, staging area for 12 million immigrants before 1924. This is the Registry Room behind us. Rain continues. But we are resilient! Waiting to board the ferry to Battery Park in Lower Manhattan. Arrived in NYC no worse for wear. Getting ready for our ‘now’ driving tour. The rain stopped just intone for us to get a photo of the group under the Brooklyn Bridge. We were able to spend a few moments at New York’s 911 Memorial. Very beautiful; very solemn. Yep, zero visibility here at the Top of the Rock, but we enjoyed the 69 floor elevator ride. Nasty weather outside. We LOVE New York!! See you all soon! Thank You...

Our tour guide,Mike, at Gettysburg was awesome. We stopped at the spot on Seminary Road where Robert E. Lee watched Pickett’s Charge. He told us the whole story of the fateful battle. As you can tell, we’re having a great time! More artillery ‘people’! With a Napolean 12 pounder Here we are overlooking Devil’s Den, the Wheat Field, and the Peach Orchard. Even a rainy morning couldn’t keep us from a trip to the Washington Monument. We veered from our itinerary and enjoyed a photo op at the WWII Memorial.
